To steal a line from the story of Shoeless
Joe Jackson and apply it to Survivor 10 Palau:
'Say it ain't so, Janu'! Ah but just
as in the tale of Shoeless Joe, it *was*
true and will forever be so: Janu
Tornell laid down her torch at Tribal
Council and walked off the show without a
vote. It didn't seem quite fair that
host Jeff Probst's goading seemed to prompt
the moment, but ultimately the voluntary
exit was Janu's decision to make, and make
it she did.
It was a most anticlimactic conclusion to her castaway
experience. Only a night before, after
being singularly banished to the purgatory
of a remote island for finishing dead last
in a watery immunity challenge, she had
started a fire and danced on the beach
exclaiming, "The moon, the stars, and my
fire, it's all mine!"
The slender, gorgeous, multi-lingual Vegas showgirl
didn't possess the drive or constitution to
make living in the wild look easy.
Nevertheless she finished 8th in Palau and
became the second member of the jury.
