There was a time in America not so
terribly long ago when the mail didn't
always get delivered in a timely
fashion. But as more and more
mail-carriers have become women, mail
delivery has become more and more
reliable, which might not be a
coincidence. And so it is with
mail-carrier Diane Ogden ~ neither rain
nor sleet nor gloom of night can keep her
from her appointed rounds in Nebraska ~
neither rain nor sleet nor gloom of night
could keep her from Survivor 3 Africa
either.
Yes Diane was
ready for the rain and gloom, but it's a
good guess the dehydration caught her by
surprise. The tribe's inability to
light a fire cave-man-style and boil some
drinking water left her thirsty and
worn to a frazzle, which soon manifested
itself in Survivor Africa's first immunity
challenge. Despite other personal
issues amongst her fellow tribe-members,
the majority ruled that stamina alone
would determine the series' first
casualty.
It has emerged as
a pattern on Survivor over the course of
its three seasons: the middle-aged
women, congenial and likable though they
be, have exited early in the wake of
trying challenges.
