On Survivor 2, Debb Eaton
immediately made her presence known as she
endeavored to take control of directing
her fellow tribe-members to the location
of their camp. In a game that in
actuality consists less of surviving than
of not being voted back to civilization by
other players, stepping right up and
taking control isn't a particularly keen
strategy.
Indeed Debb paid
the price: she was sent packing even
before the wild boars knew she was there,
a result she took personally. During
the live Survivor 2 reunion, Debb
was the only contestant who said she
wished she *hadn't* gone to the outback.
And therein lies
the dichotomy that is Debb Eaton:
ambitious & energetic on the outside,
but sensitive & caring the rest of the
way through. Those who personally
came to know Debb thought the world of
her, found her amusing, charming, and full
of life. But the portrait painted
for viewers during her entirely too brief
sojourn on Survivor 2 tended to
